Whetū & Kau

We are a whānau-owned pakihi, a wāhine Māori niece and aunty duo who brought Whetū and Kau to life.

Our journey began at the Hīkoi mō Te Tiriti Kirikiriroa in 2024, where whānau marched with pride beneath Tino Rangatiratanga flags, standing strong in kaupapa and unity. As we walked, we noticed something simple yet important — the weather and the lack of shade for our people.

From that moment, the idea for the Tino Flag umbrella was born. A practical way to protect our whānau while proudly carrying our identity.

From there, our vision grew beyond one design. Our pakihi is about celebrating culture, honouring identity, and sharing stories from Aotearoa and around the world — one umbrella at a time.
